About the Freeths Private Client Services Team

The team is 50 strong and spread nationally across our offices. For 15 consecutive years Freeths’ Trusts, Estate and Tax lawyers have secured a Tier 1 ranking in the UK’s leading legal directory, Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide. The Top Tier Oxford Trusts, Estates and Tax Team is led by Lisa Mark-Bell (Partner), with Louise Lewis (Partner) as National Head. Both are listed in Chambers (HNW) and Legal 500. Lisa is dual qualified as a solicitor and a chartered tax adviser.

About the role

We would be ideally interested in speaking with private client lawyers from 4 – 6 years PQE. The team covers a range of matters for high and ultra-high net worth clients. We have specialists in all areas of trusts, estates and tax with members of the team advising clients with international, agricultural, literary, business and other assets. Directors and Partners all specialise in particular areas, including acting as independent administrators in high net worth contested estates, advising on complex mental capacity issues, administering cross-border estates and advising agricultural clients. The team is recognised for its ability to work flexibly to find solutions. An example of this is the firm’s Private Wealth Initiative in which members of the Corporate and TET teams work together to build succession and tax plans for business owners.

In this role you will work closely with the senior members of the Trusts, Estate and Tax team based in Oxford, who will oversee your work and actively help you to progress your career. This role will give you the opportunity to develop professionally, working on high quality instructions alongside leaders in their respective fields.

  • To be accountable for your own personal development and to continuously develop interpersonal and soft skills.
  • To be competent at all times in accordance with the SRA competence standards.
  • To carry out any other such reasonable tasks that may be required from time to time.

Your skills and qualifications

  • Have directly relevant previous experience and have the correct level of post qualified experience (PQE) for the role in question. We are open to candidates between 0 - 4 years PQE for this role but ideally you would have 4-6 years PQE.
  • To have a strong commercial acumen and understanding of the industry and business of the client.
  • A proven track record of competent financial management, ability to meet client expectations and sound case management skills.
  • Good IT skills, experience, and confidence with using case management systems, electronic time recording and general Microsoft packages.
