The Freeths PCS team is 50 strong, growing and spread nationally across our offices. For 15 consecutive years, Freeths’ Trusts, Estate and Tax lawyers have secured a ranking in the UK’s leading legal directory, Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide.

The East Midlands Trusts, Estates and Tax Team is led by Rahul Kotecha and supported by Marie Cooper, both Directors based in our Nottingham office.

The team are now seeking an Associate or Senior Associate-level lawyer who is circa 2 - 7 years' PQE to join them in the Trusts, Estates and Tax team in Nottingham or Leicester office, to work under the guidance of Sarah Phillips, an experienced Trusts lawyer, and Rebecca Martindale, an experienced Chartered Tax Advisor.

The Trusts, Estates and Tax team covers a range of matters including the set up and administration of trusts, including trusts for vulnerable beneficiaries. The role will include assisting the wider team with tax compliance including:

  • Registering trusts, estates and properties with TRS
  • Preparing income tax returns for individuals, trustees, and personal representatives
  • Preparing capital gains tax returns
  • Preparing IHT returns for trusts

This role will give you the opportunity to develop professionally, working on high quality instructions alongside leaders in their respective fields. Business development activities will be supported and encouraged.

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Have directly relevant previous experience and the correct level of post qualification experience (PQE) for the role in question.
  • Have strong commercial acumen.
  • Have a proven track record of competent financial management, ability to meet client expectations and sound case management skills.
  • Have good IT skills, experience, and confidence with using case management systems, electronic time recording and general Microsoft packages.
  • Be a self-starting, friendly individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently demonstrate and embody the firm’s values.
