Freeths highly rated Commercial practice has a national reach with sector focused specialisms within the teams such as IP, tech, transport, beauty and construction. Our Commercial team cover every aspect of a commercial transaction and contract, working with blue chip companies across a national and international client base.
Rebecca Howlett leads the Commercial team in our Oxford office and is listed as a Recommended Lawyer by The Legal 500 (2023 edition). Rebecca is extremely knowledgeable, having over 20 years' experience, and she also heads up Freeths Virtual Legal Team offering our services in-house.
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team, working alongside Rebecca and other key members of the Commercial practice. The successful candidate will support the team across a range of interesting and complex matters, with excellent opportunities for professional development. The team is ideally looking for an enthusiastic lawyer with circa 4 years' PQE+, gained within a strong commercial practice. The role can be adapted to the level of experience of the chosen candidate.
Your skills and qualifications
- Have directly relevant previous experience and have the correct level of post qualified experience (PQE) for the role in question.
- To have a strong commercial acumen and understanding of the industry.
- A proven track record of competent financial management, ability to meet client expectations and sound case management skills.
- To be a self-motivated, friendly individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
- To be able to consistently demonstrate and embody the firm's values.
- Good IT skills, experience, and confidence with using case management systems, electronic time recording and general Microsoft packages.
Key Expectations
- To work to a consistently high level and to provide an exemplary level of client service and care.
- Competent financial management and commercial awareness, including accurate time recording, billing, achievement of firm delivered targets and management of WIP.
- To contribute actively toward business development opportunities to ensure the retention of existing clients and expansion of business.
- To ensure at all times that you maintain up to date technical expertise.
- To be competent at all times in accordance with the SRA competence standards.
