Overview of the Health and Safety Manager role at FreeSpirits. Location flexibility to be based in Leicester or Huddersfield with regular travel to sites across the UK and Ireland. Suitable for a seasoned Health and Safety professional seeking a new challenge in a well-established direct mail company that partners with major banking, public sector, and large organisations.
Salary and benefits include a competitive package with potential for career growth and awards. This role reports to the Compliance Manager and will oversee Health and Safety across five sites (~600 employees).
Key Responsibilities:- Lead SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) matters across all business levels.
- Establish and enhance SHE management systems.
- Identify and mitigate SHE risks.
- Minimise occupational health issues, accidents, injuries, operational losses, and business risks.
- Maintain H&S and environmental management systems in line with legislation and ISO standards.
- Record and analyse accidents, incidents, and environmental performance.
- Prepare monthly board reports and oversee compliance plans.
- Coordinate SHE meetings and activities of site representatives.
- Ensure adherence to SHE legislation and conduct regular site inspections.
- Deliver training on SHE topics and stay updated with new legislation.
- Previous experience in a Health and Safety Manager role, ideally in a standalone, hands-on capacity.
- Multi-site experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- NEBOSH Diploma qualified.
- Proficiency in ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
- Competence in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong presentation skills for senior management.
- Valid driver's licence and own transport.
- Flexibility to travel to all 5 sites across UK and Ireland.
- Solid knowledge of SHE legislation and experience in implementing SHE management systems.
- Proven track record of influencing at all business levels and delivering improvements.
- Competitive salary (£52-58k) plus a £6k car allowance.
- Standard working hours 9am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
