Role Description
The General Manager role at Freespirit Pubs is a full-time, on-site position.
The General Manager will oversee daily pub operations, including staff supervision, scheduling, and maintaining service standards. Responsibilities include managing food and beverage service, ensuring an excellent guest experience, and coordinating events and private functions. The role also involves monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and supporting revenue growth, while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements. The General Manager will work closely with the leadership team to implement company initiatives and foster a collaborative, inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality or pub/restaurant management, with strong skills in day-to-day operations and team leadership.
- Proficiency in customer service and guest relations, with the ability to handle inquiries, feedback, and complex service situations calmly and professionally.
- Skills in budgeting, cost control, and basic financial reporting to support profitable and efficient operations.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards, health and safety regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate diverse teams and collaborate across functions.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage events, weddings, and peak trading periods.
- Comfort with using point-of-sale systems and basic office software; willingness to learn new tools as needed.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality is highly beneficial; relevant vocational training or a hospitality-related qualification is an advantage.
