We are seeking an experienced HV Plant Engineer to support a large‑scale 400kV National Grid infrastructure project. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high‑profile energy initiative, working remotely with occasional site visits as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design and engineering of high‑voltage (HV) plant systems for a 400kV substation project.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with National Grid standards and specifications.
  • Produce and review technical documentation, including single‑line diagrams, layout drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Provide technical input during design reviews and project meetings.
  • Support CDM compliance and contribute to safety and risk assessments.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience working on 400kV National Grid projects.
  • Strong understanding of HV plant systems, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
  • Revit design experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience acting as the CDAE (Control, Design, and Assurance Engineer) on similar projects is ideal but not essential.
  • Familiarity with National Grid technical specifications and design standards.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Contract Details

  • Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)
  • IR35 Status: Outside IR35
  • Location: Remote working permitted, but candidates must be UK‑based
