ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsible for defining and delivering scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions aligned to FGH digital and ecommerce strategy. The role ensures that architectures leverage cloud capabilities effectively while enabling modernisation of legacy platforms. The architect will work closely with engineering, product, and business teams to design solutions that support high-performing ecommerce experiences and business systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Define end-to-end solution architectures aligned to business and technology strategy
- Lead design of cloud-based solutions ensuring scalability, resilience, and security
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate requirements into technical designs
- Govern architecture standards, patterns, and best practices
- Support modernisation initiatives including legacy and mainframe transformation
- Ensure integration patterns support APIs, event-driven and data-driven architectures
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across delivery teams
- Contribute to roadmap planning and strategic technology decisions
- Conduct technical evaluations, determining or contributing to IT recommendations
- Liaise with clients/sponsors/3rd parties advising on matters within their area of expertise, to understand business needs and support efficient problem resolution
Cloud & Technical Responsibilities
- Design and implement solutions using Azure services
- Promote cloud-native and microservices-based architectures
- Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements
- Support observability, monitoring and optimisation strategies
Ecommerce & Domain Alignment
- Support delivery of scalable ecommerce platforms
- Ensure systems support high traffic, performance and customer experience expectations
- Collaborate with UX, Product and Engineering to optimise journeys and capabilities
- Understand integrations across payments, fulfilment, and customer platforms

ABOUT YOU
- Experience in ecommerce platforms and cloud-first design is essential, with additional exposure to monolith modernisation advantageous.
- Able to commute to Bradford City Centre, min 2 days per week
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect in complex environments (3y+)
- Experience working within an ecommerce organisation
- Strong experience designing solutions on Microsoft Azure
- Experience defining scalable, resilient distributed systems
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience working in a variety of delivery environments (agile, waterfall, hybrid)
- Understanding of integration patterns and API-led architecture
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to collaborate across diverse teams.
