I'm looking for a long-term development partner (solo dev or small team) to build two connected apps:
- VisionCamPOV — a reliability-first mobile app that controls our sports POV cameras.
- SPOTLIGHT — a public, recruiter-friendly platform where athletes/teams post highlights and get discovered.
Important monetization rule: VisionCam has NO ads and NO subscription. Revenue comes from SPOTLIGHT subscriptions only.
I'm not looking for generic social app work — this needs to be reliable, clean UX, school-safe, and recruiter-friendly.
Budget / Start:
- I can start with $300–$600 max to begin (discovery / clickable prototype / architecture plan / first sprint).
- After that, we'll structure milestone-based work and discuss a longer-term partnership arrangement if it's a good fit.
Project #1 — VisionCamPOV App (MVP Scope)
Goal: Simple, fast, reliable control + session recording + offload workflow.
Core requirements (MVP):
- Two control modes (auto-detected):
- Direct Phone Control (phone camera)
- Hub/Router Control (school/team hub present)
- Start Session → continuous recording using segmented files (recommended 2–3 min segments)
- STOP must be "Hold-to-Stop" (press-and-hold confirmation)
- Offload all segments to phone
- Verify transfer integrity (manifest/checksum or file-size matching)
- Never auto-delete from camera; only allow manual delete after verified offload
Notes: This is reliability-first. The workflow must prevent accidental stop and prevent data loss.
Project #2 — SPOTLIGHT Platform (MVP Scope)
Goal: Recruiter-friendly discovery + highlights + controlled sharing for schools and athletes.
Core requirements (MVP):
- Account types / roles:
- School/Team Admin (manages accounts/permissions)
- Coach/Staff
- Student/Athlete (school-managed login by default)
- Recruiter/Public viewer (search + profiles)
- School-controlled sharing toggle (default OFF)
- Optional approval workflow for "Official School Content"
- Clear separation of school content vs personal content (MVP can keep it simple but designed correctly)
- Subscription logic + paywall rules (who pays and what features unlock)
- Stripe or in-app purchase approach (recommend best option)
Deliverables I Expect:
- MVP scope breakdown + technical architecture plan
- Clean UI/UX plan (wireframes or clickable prototype)
- Backend + database + role-based access control
- iOS + Android app build (or cross-platform if you recommend it)
- Testing plan focused on reliability (record/offload/sessions)
- Clear milestones with demoable progress each sprint
Preferred Tech (open to your recommendation):
- Backend: Supabase (Postgres + RLS) or equivalent strong RBAC approach
- Mobile: React Native / Flutter / Native (tell me your recommendation and why)
- Storage: secure cloud storage for clips + CDN approach (recommend)
- Auth: role-based / school-managed accounts
To Apply (include these in your proposal):
- Your recommended tech stack (and why)
- Your plan to build this in phases (VisionCam MVP first, then SPOTLIGHT MVP)
- Examples of apps you've built with: video upload/feeds, roles/permissions, subscriptions
- Your weekly availability and communication cadence
- Any risks you see + how you'd reduce them
Screening Questions:
- Have you built an app with video upload + feed before? Share links.
- Have you implemented role-based access (admin/coach/student) with audit logs?
- Have you shipped subscriptions (Stripe or in-app purchases)?
- What would you build first in the first 2–3 weeks for fastest progress?
- What's your suggested approach for verified offload (manifest/checksum/file match)?
Contract duration of 1 to 3 months.
Mandatory skills: Android, iOS, Smartphone, Mobile App Development, User Profile Creation, iOS Development, Android App Development, In-App Purchases
