We are building a luxury tabletop lighter brand focused on high-end hospitality (beach clubs, cigar lounges, VIP rooms, resorts). This is not a novelty lighter. It is a functional sculptural object made from solid marble, with a car cigarette lighter-style heating mechanism (push-down → heat → pop-up → pull out → return).
We are looking for a product designer / industrial designer with experience in:
- Mechanical product design
- Small consumer electronics
- Thermal components
- Manufacturable product development
This will move to prototyping and production.
The Product Concept
A solid marble cube (approx. 8–10cm) houses a rechargeable heating cartridge.
User experience:
- User depresses a knob/handle.
- Heating element activates while inside the marble housing.
- Mechanism auto-releases when at temperature (like a car cigarette lighter).
- User pulls cartridge out and lights cigarette/cigar.
- Cartridge is returned to housing.
- System cuts power automatically.
The marble body is permanent. The heating cartridge should be modular and replaceable. This is intended for high-end hospitality environments.
What We Need From You
Phase 1 – Mechanical & Industrial Design
- Refine heating cartridge mechanism
- Design push-lock / auto-release system
- Design internal metal sleeve + insulation inside marble body
- Ensure thermal safety and durability
- Specify materials (nichrome coil, ceramic insulation, stainless grades)
- Design modular replaceable cartridge system
- Design internal mounting system inside CNC-milled marble block
- Ensure manufacturability
Deliverables:
- CAD files (Fusion / SolidWorks / STEP)
- Exploded diagrams
- Mechanical drawings for manufacturing
- BOM (Bill of Materials)
- Recommended suppliers (if available)
Phase 2 – Electronics Integration
- Rechargeable lithium battery system
- Power control board
- Thermal cutoff + safety logic
- Auto shut-off
- USB-C or magnetic charging solution
- Electrical isolation from marble body
Experience with high-current heating elements strongly preferred.
Constraints & Requirements
- Must feel premium and minimal
- Must withstand hospitality use (frequent daily cycles)
- No exposed heating element during warm-up
- Heat must not crack marble
- Replaceable cartridge system preferred
- Indoor first (Indonesia market)
- Outdoor version later
Ideal Background
- Experience designing lighters, heating devices, or small appliances
- Experience working with stone or heavy materials is a plus
- Experience bringing physical products to production
Contract duration of less than 1 month, with 30 hours per week.
Mandatory skills: SolidWorks, Industrial Design, 3D Rendering, CorelDRAW, Autodesk AutoCAD, CAD Drafting, Product Design, 2D Drafting, 3D Drawing, Engineering Design, CAD & CAM Software, Product Development, Industrial Automation, Patent Drawing.
