We are building a specialized navigation platform for commercial drivers that converts scanned driving directions into structured, machine-readable routing data. Our current development team is struggling with the step that converts AI-extracted directions from documents into accurate waypoints that routing engines can plot on a map. We need a highly experienced Geospatial Engineer with AI/OCR experience to help design and implement a reliable pipeline that turns messy real-world driving directions into structured route data compatible with modern routing engines.

This is a technically challenging problem and requires someone who has worked with GIS, geocoding, routing systems, and document parsing. The team is working in Flutter.

The Problem to Solve

  • Scan PDF/image documents containing written driving directions (done)
  • Extract the directions using OCR/AI (done)
  • Convert the extracted text into structured steps (turns, exits, road names, entrances) (done)
  • Geocode these steps into coordinates (issues)
  • Generate accurate waypoints (issues)
  • Output route skeletons compatible with:
  • OSRM
  • GraphHopper
  • Valhalla
  • GeoJSON / GPX formats

The end result should be a route that drivers can follow inside a map app.

Contract duration of 1 to 3 months.

Mandatory skills: Geographic Information System Development, Geocoding & reverse geocoding, OpenStreetMap data, Waypoint generation, Route reconstruction.
