I am seeking a high-level Technical Knitwear Designer to develop a foundational "Master Base" library for a new digital pattern brand.

The Goal: Develop a series of "Master Bases" that will serve as the mathematical foundation for my entire shop. Once these bases are built, we will collaborate on variations with these patterns. The goal is to make a bundle of 12 pieces for a winter collection and 12 pieces for an autumn collection. I would like 2 types of pieces for each design: one slim fit and one for a bit larger person, more oversized.

Phase 1 Deliverables (The Bases):

  • Oversized Drop Shoulder Sweater (Graded for 8–10 inclusive sizes).
  • Top-Down Raglan Sweater (Seamless construction).
  • V-Neck Cardigan (Including button-band math).
  • Master Beanie & Mitten Bases.

Phase 2 Deliverables (The Collection):

Applying unique creative variations (textures, stripes, cables) to the Master Bases.

Technical Requirements:

  • Inclusive Grading: Must provide a full grading spreadsheet (30" to 60"+ chest) using industry standards (e.g., Craft Yarn Council).
  • Clear Schematics: Professional 2D technical drawings with measurements for every size.
  • Written Patterns: Clean, error-free PDF instructions ready for a Tech Editor.
  • Commercial Rights: This is a Work-for-Hire project. I will own 100% of the copyright and IP for the patterns and the underlying grading math.

Who You Are:

  • You have a portfolio of self-published or commissioned knitwear patterns.
  • You are proficient in Excel/Google Sheets for grading.
  • Experience with 3D simulation (CLO3D, Shima Seiki, or ApexFiz) is a major plus for speed.
  • You can meet tight deadlines without sacrificing math accuracy.

To Apply:

  • Send a link to your Ravelry portfolio or website.
  • Confirm you are comfortable with a "Work-for-Hire" / Copyright Transfer agreement.
  • Briefly explain your process for grading a sweater across 10 sizes.

Contract duration of 3 to 6 months, with 40 hours per week.

Mandatory skills: Knitting, Knitting & Crochet, Knitwear.
