Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced freelancer or agency to develop an internal Product Information Management (PIM) system. The PIM will centralise product data, enabling efficient management, enrichment, and distribution across multiple channels and platforms. Serving as the single source of truth for product data, the system will streamline content creation, improve accuracy and consistency, and facilitate updates to other asset management tools. The PIM will initially be managed locally and support approximately 55 products, with scalability and integration options for future expansion.
PIM Requirements:
- Meet the business requirements and technical specifications.
- Migrate existing product data from various sources and formats into the PIM system.
- Cohesive process to follow for data input along with a guideline for best practice to ensure this is followed for all future NPD.
- Be functional and user-friendly, staff can quickly locate and access the information they need.
- Easy to extract and transfer information to external content sources, capturing the key attributes that contribute to key metrics content health.
- Adaptable tool that can be evolved in the future as there is potential to integrate with other tools in the future.
Deliverables:
- Comprehensive project plan detailing scope, timeline, milestones, resources, and risk assessment.
- Functional, user-friendly PIM capable of managing and distributing product data, and adaptable to evolving retail media and SEO needs.
- Robust product data model defining attributes, categories, relationships, and business rules.
- Product content templates for efficient creation and updating of descriptions, features, specifications, multimedia, and SEO attributes.
- Data migration strategy and assurance plan to guarantee accurate transfer of legacy product data.
- Seamless integration plan outlining interfaces, protocols, and workflows between the PIM and other systems.
- User manual and training program to support staff.
- Maintenance and support plan detailing roles, responsibilities, and procedures for ongoing system operation.
Timeline and Budget:
The project is scheduled to start as soon as possible; timelines and project duration will be discussed with the selected freelancer/agency. Budget will be determined once the critical path is established, with milestone payments tied to delivery targets.
Requirements:
- Expertise in PIM system design and development, ideally with experience in platforms such as Akeneo, Salsify, or inRiver, or custom solutions for FMCG.
- Proficiency in data migration, quality assurance, and governance, including use of data management tools.
- Knowledge of system integration (APIs, web services, ETL tools).
- Ability to produce high-quality, self-maintained product content (experience with tools like Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, Contentful, and Brandbank preferred).
- Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
