We are seeking to engage an experienced Data Center Cost Optimization Consultant to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of our current infrastructure setup and identify potential avenues for cost reduction. The selected consultant will deliver actionable insights aimed at optimizing operational efficiency and minimizing expenses. This role necessitates a robust understanding of data center operations and effective cost management strategies.
Scope of work may include:
- Reviewing our current infrastructure setup and cost structure
- Evaluating colocation as an alternative (including power, rack space, bandwidth, cross-connects, remote hands, etc.)
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities in hardware procurement, network transit, and scaling strategy
- Providing a financial model comparing current model vs. colocation
- Advising on vendor selection and negotiation strategy (if applicable)
- Delivering a clear recommendation with supporting analysis
Ideal candidate:
- Proven experience with data center infrastructure and colocation environments
- Strong background in infrastructure cost modeling and financial analysis
- Experience with high-bandwidth or hosting environments preferred
- Ability to provide structured analysis and actionable recommendations
- Experience negotiating with data center providers is a plus
Deliverables:
- Cost comparison model (spreadsheet or financial breakdown)
- Written recommendation with risks and tradeoffs
- Optional: Vendor shortlist and negotiation guidance
Contract duration of 1 to 3 months, with 30 hours per week.
