The predicted salary is between 30 - 40 £ per hour.

We are a Melbourne construction/modular delivery business seeking an experienced architectural designer / architect who can lead design and documentation, supported by drafting resources as required. Work will cover concept through to permit-ready documentation across multiple projects.

You will be responsible for design intent, documentation standards, coordination with engineers/certifier, and ensuring deliverables are compliant, buildable and council-ready.

Key Projects:

  • Hamilton redesign (residential)
  • Huntly building documentation
  • Ferntree Gully redesign
  • 22 Bayswater BD package

What We Need:

  • Design & Concept Lead
  • Produce concept sketches/renderings
  • Set architectural intent and coordinate feedback
  • Prepare design packages suitable for planning submissions

Documentation & Drafting:

  • Generate detailed architectural drawings (plans, sections, elevations, Schedules)
  • Prepare documentation for permits and construction
  • Manage revisions based on design direction, site conditions and compliance checks

Coordination:

  • Work with engineers, surveyors and certifiers
  • Review notes and ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards and NCC
  • Provide advice on planning constraints and town planning risk

Required Skills:

  • Registered Architect or Senior Architectural Designer
  • Proven experience delivering residential/multi-unit documentation in Melbourne (council/permit understanding)
  • Strong drafting skills (Revit preferred, ArchiCAD or AutoCAD acceptable)
  • Attention to detail and clarity in documentation
  • Good communication and responsiveness
  • Ability to work with remote draftsman where required

Nice To Have:

  • Experience in modular construction documentation
  • Knowledge of local councils (Boroondara, Monash, Knox, Whitehorse, etc.)

Deliverables:

  • Concept design package
  • Permit / planning documentation
  • Construction documentation (BCP/Working drawings)
  • Compliance mark-ups and revision logs

Engagement Type: Contract – hourly or fixed milestone (negotiable) Opportunity for ongoing work across multiple sites.

Proposal Requirements:

  • Please include: Portfolio of relevant projects (Melbourne focus)
  • Preferred software platform & deliverables format
  • Estimated rate (AUD) and availability
  • Example turnaround times for documentation packages
  • Contract duration of more than 6 months with 40 hours per week.
