Freedom's Design team has an exciting opportunity for a BIM Technician to join our growing company. The role involves working within a specialist multi-disciplinary team to produce accurate electrical models and drawings for a range of large and small-scale engineering projects. You will support engineers in delivering high-quality design packages through model coordination, drawing production, and digital workflows, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.
Key Deliverables
- Assist in all BIM related activities in collaboration with design and project teams, producing calculations, drawings, and technical reports from 3D models for design, installation, and/or manufacture.
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard, adhering to Freedom’s document control procedures and client requirements.
- Adhere to the design, check/review, and approval process, completing self-checks and peer checks where necessary.
- Build and maintain internal relationships with team members, demonstrating excellent communication between the department and the wider project team.
- Work from engineers and designers’ mark-ups to edit or produce accurate and structured models.
- Develop a working knowledge of all HV/LV systems to optimise solutions and enable CDM compliance; visit sites to gain practical experience of HV/LV installation practices and apply these to improve drawing effectiveness in models.
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrable experience working in a design environment.
- Knowledge of BS/ISO BIM standards and electrical engineering codes and regulations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit MEP and Navisworks.
Qualifications
- ONC/HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
- Formal training or certification in Autodesk Revit MEP.
- Good understanding of engineering drawing standards and BIM processes (ISO 19650 awareness).
