An opportunity has opened for a Project Manager within our SSE North Scotland business, to lead a number of projects installing and constructing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV. The successful candidate will provide overall management of diverse electrical network projects running concurrently, including the installation of ground mounted and structure mounted power system components, cable systems, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels and associated equipment in substations operating at up to 33kV and occasionally 132kV.

Key deliverables include:

  • Leading multiple project managers and teams, executing duties professionally to build team and customer confidence.
  • Providing leadership, drive, discipline, and support to Project Managers and teams.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety is the most important element in all procedures.
  • Efficiently executing the project management role on concurrent projects while managing a team of Project Managers.
  • Overseeing tasks allocated to others in pursuit of effective project delivery.
  • Appraising direct reports regularly to develop skills, knowledge base, and performance.
  • Organising, controlling, and deploying materials/equipment/labour resources for upcoming works.
  • Maintaining company property and ensuring it is routinely PAT or calibration tested.
  • Producing as-built records, test results, updated drawings, and reports for projects.

What we’re looking for:

  • HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering (and/or time served).
  • Good operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Site safety passport and/or experience of working on CDM sites.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS is desirable, not essential.
  • Possession of SSE DNO authorisation to receive and cancel PTW (or alternative equivalent DNO authorisation).
  • The candidate must be based within Scotland and prepared to travel throughout Scotland, particularly from Perth and above including all Islands.
