Summary
Freedom\’s Professional Services are looking for a Design Engineer with a cabling specialism to join our team out of the East Kilbride office to support the growth of work within Scotland.
This role will work on the design, drawing and calculations of our projects, working with the wider Design team, with site visits to carry out surveys and data collection, as required.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
- Support Principal & Senior Design Engineers with delivering technically demanding projects.
- Be able to carry out calculations and produce drawings on most types of cabling projects from concept design to detailed design mostly unaided, ensuring that the project is cost effective and delivered on time with the deadlines in the proposal.
- Have good commercial awareness with the ability to work closely with our clients and the wider FPS team to build a strong relationship, and regular communication both written and verbally.
- Mentor and provide help / guidance to Assistant and Graduate Engineer’s.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of cable system and routing design including very good knowledge of software packages including AutoCAD and CYMCAP.
- Have awareness and provide support to Principal / Senior Engineers on complex engineering problems such as SED’s.
- Attend and voice technical questions at design team meetings with the team/client via teams or in person.
- Provide engineering solutions to site-based problems through TQ/RFI process.
- Ability to confidently conduct site visits to carry out routing surveys and assessments.

- Degree qualified is desirable, but fundamentals from HNC/HNC is essential.
- Someone who can take direction with a drive to learn and develop.
