Due to continued growth across the energy infrastructure sector and an expanding pipeline of opportunities, Freedom Group is seeking to recruit an ambitious Business Development Manager to join our Power Division. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in securing and developing major energy infrastructure projects across the UK.

Working across grid connections, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and data centre developments, the successful candidate will combine strong commercial expertise with technical understanding and established industry relationships to drive business growth. Freedom is a leading provider of engineering and infrastructure solutions within the UK energy sector, delivering projects that support the transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy network.

As investment in energy infrastructure continues to accelerate, this role will be instrumental in identifying and securing new opportunities with utilities, developers, investors, EPC contractors, and industrial energy users. This is a high-profile position within the business, offering exposure to senior leadership teams and key industry stakeholders.

The successful candidate will not only lead business development activities but will also have the opportunity to support projects through the pre-construction phase, ensuring opportunities are effectively developed from concept through to delivery. The role will work closely with commercial, operational, and technical teams and will play a key part in delivering the Power Division's strategic growth objectives.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Lead business development and client engagement activities across major energy infrastructure projects
  • Identify, develop, and secure high-value opportunities in grid connections, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and data centre power infrastructure
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with National Grid, DNOs, network operators, developers, EPC contractors, and industrial energy users
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for customers
  • Manage opportunities through the pre-construction phase to support successful project delivery
  • Represent Freedom Group at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities
  • Support the development and execution of the Power Division growth strategy
  • Drive pipeline growth and contribute to achieving business development and revenue targets
  • Provide market intelligence and strategic insight to support senior decision-making

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven success in technical sales and business development within the UK energy sector
  • Experience securing major electrical connection and high-voltage infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and data centre power infrastructure
  • Established network of industry contacts across utilities, developers, network operators, contractors, and energy stakeholders
  • Demonstrable track record of winning and developing large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Ability to influence both technical and executive-level stakeholders
  • Strategic and results-driven approach with a focus on delivering business growth
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Project management experience with the ability to support schemes through pre-construction stages
