About Us: Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools (www.freedomprep.org) is a network of PreK-12 free public charter schools serving students in Memphis, TN, and Birmingham, AL. Our mission is to prepare all students in grades PreK-12 to excel in college and in life. Since our founding in 2009, we have grown from a class of 96 sixth grade students to now serving over 1950 students across multiple campuses. POSITION OVERVIEW: Freedom Preparatory Academy seeks high school teachers specializing in Physics for our growing network of charter schools. As a teacher at Freedom Prep Academy, you will be expected to introduce and help students develop mastery of concepts as measured through assessments administered throughout the year. These skills and concepts will be presented in various ways to ensure a thorough understanding and execution of the content. Teachers will collaborate with colleagues to ensure cross-curricular and thematic alignment of the curriculum. Each teacher will be responsible for their subject area and respective standards. RESPONSIBILITIES: Freedom Prep welcomes teachers committed to student growth and professional development. Maintains effective communication and strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Creates and sustains a positive classroom culture and community. Reinforces school-wide rules and expectations in lesson planning, curriculum development, and assignments. Uses detailed data analysis to inform instructional practices. Maintains accurate records as required by law and regulations. Works extended hours for collaboration, professional development, and communication with stakeholders. Collaborates with school leadership to develop strategies for student success. Performs additional tasks as assigned by school leadership. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s Degree required Master’s Degree strongly preferred Certification: Valid Tennessee teaching license with endorsement(s) in the content area, or Valid license from a state with reciprocity with TN, or Enrollment in a certification program with eligibility for licensure recommendation, or Eligibility for Tennessee teaching license required Experience: Two to four years of urban teaching and leadership experience preferred Ability to work with diverse learning abilities in heterogeneously grouped classrooms Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Salary Range: $50,000 – $76,000 annually We invite you to explore our mission, values, and opportunities.
