As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will plan and deliver group sessions tailored for adults aged 50+. This includes chair based and low impact exercise classes. You will support participants to improve their strength, balance, mobility, cardiovascular health and overall physical confidence while creating a friendly and welcoming environment that reduces isolation and encourages active living. You will prepare structured programmes that follow industry best practice and align with national guidelines. You will also be responsible for participant screening, ensuring PAR Q forms are completed and reviewed so that all sessions are delivered safely and appropriately.

A key part of this role is creating an inclusive, positive and socially supportive environment where participants feel confident and welcomed. You will help strengthen community connections by encouraging social interaction and supporting data collection that contributes to community wellbeing reporting.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Group Exercise to Music (or equivalent CIMSPA recognised qualification).
  • Chair-Based Exercise Qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience of delivering exercise to 50+ year olds.
  • Knowledge of common age-related conditions (e.g. arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, cardiovascular conditions).
  • Understanding of falls prevention principles.
  • Ability to adapt exercises safely for mixed ability groups.
  • The skill to establish key relationships swiftly and appropriately.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills, able to negotiate and persuade people both internally and externally.
  • Team orientated approach, able to work across organisation boundaries and demonstrate interest and be supportive of the work of colleagues.
  • Highly organised with a good attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Level 3 Exercise Referral.
  • An ability to feed into and translate into action the centre's strategy and objectives.
  • An ability to analyse problems, situations and information, think laterally and present workable solutions.
  • Mobility to travel across sites.
