Summary
Freedom Networks is seeking a candidate capable of carrying out LV & HV switching, isolation, earthing, identification of the point of work, and issuing safety documentation on construction and asset replacement projects within the distribution network.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning outages and producing switching programmes, liaising with System Control.
- Making dead, isolating, and earthing high voltage electrical networks.
- Ensuring a safe working environment during high voltage operations.
- Identifying and releasing apparatus for work by issuing Safety Documents and Permits to Work.
- Conducting high voltage testing and fault location.
- Re-energising the network upon completion.
- Ensuring site personnel adhere to Freedom’s SHE policies and safety instructions.
- Implementing safety rules, instructions, standing orders, and procedures for Freedom and customers.
- Preparing project files in accordance with company policies and CDM Regulations.
- Carrying out Risk Assessments at all project stages, in line with company standards.
- Maintaining statutory records, certificates, licenses, and notifications.
- Promoting a safety culture proactively.
- Overseeing work activities to ensure effective and timely completion.
- Completing records accurately and promptly, such as as-builts and work sheets.
- Coordinating shutdowns and Permits to Work with employees and control centres.
- Collaborating with site managers, subcontractors, clients, landowners, suppliers, and colleagues for smooth project execution.
- Developing and mentoring trainees.
Candidate requirements:
- Experience with SAP duties on 11kV – 132kV networks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising at various levels.
- HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Current/recent SAP authorisation on the UKPN network at 11kV – 132kV.
