Project Manager
Location: Scotland – Central, Northern and Highlands

Summary
An opportunity has opened for a Project Manager within our SSE North Scotland business to lead small teams installing and constructing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV. The role focuses on delivering safe, profitable, high-quality, fit-for-purpose networks that meet customer needs and promote the company\’s positive image.
The Project Manager will oversee their own projects and supervise multiple staff, managing diverse electrical network projects concurrently. These include installation of power system components, cable systems, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels, and related equipment in substations operating at up to 132KV.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to the Operations Manager, lead multiple project managers and teams, and execute duties professionally to build confidence and promote business growth. Act as a first-line problem solver.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to project teams and customers, ensuring discipline and support for project success.
- Ensure compliance with all procedures, prioritize health and safety, and undertake site supervisor roles as required under CDM regulations, including managing customer-appointed contractors and subcontractors.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, oversee task allocation, and develop team members through regular appraisals.
- Control resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, for ongoing projects.
- Maintain good commercial awareness, complete valuations, and ensure project documentation such as as-built records, test results, and updated drawings are produced.
Qualifications and Experience:
- HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
- Site safety passport and experience working on CDM sites.
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification is desirable.
- Possession of SSE DNO authorization to manage PTW, or equivalent (e.g., SPEN, NPg, UKPN).
