Freedom Care Group is growing its specialist Autism, Learning Differences and SEND support teams across Portsmouth, Gosport, Havant and Fareham.
We are looking for caring, confident and reliable people who want to make a real difference to children, young people and families.
This is varied, community‑based work supporting autistic children, young people and young adults to build confidence, enjoy activities, develop independence and give families much‑needed respite.
- Current Opportunities Include
- Fareham – 15‑Year‑Old Autistic Boy
Support a 15‑year‑old boy for around six hours every other Saturday.
Provide respite for foster carers, build a positive relationship, take him out into the community and enjoy activities such as fishing, outdoor time and other structured activities.
Portsmouth / Gosport Area – 19‑Year‑Old Autistic Young Man Living Independently
Provide mentoring and practical support around healthy eating, going to the gym, keeping on top of tasks and building confidence with everyday routines.
Havant – 19‑Year‑Old Autistic Young Man with High Support Needs
Support a 19‑year‑old autistic young man who loves trains, buses, transport and structured outings.
Plan and support short, predictable journeys and community activities before returning home.
Portsmouth – 9‑Year‑Old Autistic/ADHD Girl
Build a relationship after school, support with community activities and help her family work towards occasional overnight respite.
May include school pick‑up, Brownies attendance, confidence building.
Portsmouth Area – 9‑Year‑Old Autistic/PDA Boy
Mentor/education support worker for a 9‑year‑old boy with PDA traits.
Two sessions per week, around two hours per session, flexible timings.
Placeholder based mentoring and gentle educational or developmental activities at the child’s pace.

- Fareham: Saturdays, 6 hours every other week.
- Portsmouth / Gosport: Mon, 5:30‑8:30 pm; Wed (alternate), 5:30‑8:30 pm.
- Havant: Wed, Fri, Sat or Sun, 12:00‑5:00 pm (flexible).
- Portsmouth – 9‑Year‑Old: Mon, 3:25‑6:00 pm; another weekday, 3:25‑6:00 pm.
- Portsmouth – PDA Boy: Two sessions per week, location and timing flexible.
About the Role
This work suits calm, patient, emotionally resilient individuals who can build trusting relationships with children and young people who may need time, consistency and understanding.
You may support young people to access the community, develop independence, enjoy hobbies, regulate emotions, build confidence, follow routines or provide essential respite to families.
About You
- Able to drive and have access to a car.
- Have an Enhanced DBS, preferably on the Update Service.
- Be reliable, consistent and committed.
- Be confident working in the community.
- Able to follow care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments.
- Be calm, nurturing and boundary‑setting.
- Understand the importance of safeguarding.
- Available for some evenings, weekends or after‑school sessions, depending on the package.
