In this vital role, you’ll lead on the delivery of our aids and adaptations programme—ensuring our homes are safe, inclusive, and tailored to meet the diverse needs of our residents. About Freebridge Community Housing:
Our Freebridge Community Housing goal is to provide affordable, safe, and quality homes for current and future generations, for those who need a place to call home. Freebridge was set up in 2006, to receive the transfer of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk’s housing stock. We now have over 7500 properties across west and north Norfolk, in addition to building new homes for social and affordable rent, and to support those who want to move into shared home ownership. We’ve had numerous achievements, including delivering our tenants\' promises and bringing homes to the Decent Homes Standard, affording our customers a much better quality of living. What you’ll be doing:
- Contribute to the development and delivery of corporate and assets strategies to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Assist in developing the annual aids and adaptations plan and budget in collaboration with local councils and internal teams.
- Conduct pre, during, and post-inspection surveys to ensure all adaptations meet specified quality standards.
- Provide technical advice and produce options appraisals for complex adaptation works.
- Lead the procurement of contractors and specialist consultants, preparing work specifications and tender documents.
- Monitor the delivery of works to ensure compliance with contracts and manage the aids and adaptations waiting list.
- Prepare and monitor budget expenditure, liaising with service users, representatives, statutory authorities, and contractors.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant policies and procedures and undertake any additional duties as required.
What we’re looking for:
- A proven surveying background with the ability to provide technical insight and support
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, particularly CDM (Construction Design and Management).
- Experience in aids and adaptations within social housing or a related sector.
- Proven budget, project and contract management skills.
- Demonstrable knowledge of disabled facility grants, health & safety legislation, and contract management frameworks.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Qualifications such as HNC or NVQ4 in Building Surveying, or equivalent.
- Full UK driving license with sufficient car insurance to cover for business use.
