Description

Our Sales Team

The purpose of the Sales Team is to drive growth within our accounting practice partners, both through signing and onboarding new practices and expanding the use of FreeAgent within our existing partners. We have teams that support the following three areas of our customer lifecycle; prospecting, onboarding and expansion. The National Account Manager role primarily focuses on expansion with our largest national practice partners (Tier 1 Practices).

The role

We’re on the hunt for an experienced National Account Manager (AM) to join our Business Development Team within the FreeAgent Accountancy Practice Division. As a National Account Manager, you will take full ownership of some of our most vital and intricate accounting practice partnerships. You’ll be responsible for leading high-level relationship management across multiple internal departments within these national firms, utilising a consultative approach to drive growth. Your focus will be on securing FreeAgent as the primary software choice across their extensive client bases, ensuring our award-winning accounting solution meets the specific needs of freelancers and small business owners at scale.

Day to day your role will involve:

  • Strategic Account Management & Growth
    • Relationship Ownership: Be the main point of contact for major national firms, connecting with their teams across the UK.
    • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue by spotting new commercial opportunities and bringing new practices on board.
    • Strategic Planning: Develop long-term strategies for partners to help them get the most value from our platform.
    • Onboarding: Coordinate smooth migration projects with internal teams to help new practices get started easily.
  • Consultative Sales & Representation
    • Consultative Sales: Use a consultative approach to demonstrate the value of FreeAgent at every step of the sales process.
    • Brand Ambassador: Represent us at industry events, trade shows, and leadership forums.
    • Market Insight: Share competitor and market feedback with the wider team to help shape our product direction.
  • Operations & Reporting
    • Territory Management: Manage your own diary and travel efficiently to keep productivity high.
    • Pipeline Management: Build a healthy sales pipeline that balances quick wins with bigger, long-term goals.
    • Reporting: Keep Salesforce up to date with accurate data and provide clear, regular updates on your progress.

You

We're looking for:

  • Significant experience in a senior sales role, specifically selling software into large, complex professional services organisations across multiple locations.
  • A proven track record of solutions-based selling to multiple stakeholders at the executive and partner level.
  • Evidence of consistently meeting and exceeding high-value revenue targets.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) with the ability to manage, influence, and motivate stakeholders at all levels.
  • High levels of self-reliance, autonomy, and attention to detail.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Appreciation of the technology and legislation-led changes currently impacting the accountancy profession.

Our work life

We believe in a strong work-life balance, we don’t work long hours (35 hour working week), and we have a fabulous Edinburgh HQ expertly designed for collaboration including high-quality A/V equipment to provide a great experience for distributed teams. At FreeAgent, we support each other and operate a no-blame culture. Our mindset is: work hard, be nice to people, and the rest will sort itself out!

Work pattern for this role

This is a permanent, full-time role (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm). This is a UK based remote role combining field-based work with home working. Extensive nationwide travel is required, however this will be most often across England. There will be regular contact and trips to head office sited at Edinburgh Quay (convenient for Haymarket train station and airport links).

Perks

Annual starting salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience, with room to progress. The role also comes with a car allowance of £6,600 and a competitive uncapped commission package. Our starting salaries typically leave some opportunity for growth within the band as salaries are linked to performance expectations to nurture our culture of fairness, learning and development.
