Our client is looking for a DBA with experience in database technologies and good understanding of SQL/Oracle development. This is a contract role initially for 6 months with good possibility of extension. Please note that this role is fully onsite in Milton Keynes 5 days week. Due to nature of the role DV + NPPV3 clearance is required. Essential Experience Required: * Experience in database technologies and a good understanding of SQL/Oracle development and scripting tools; Oracle DB Architecture, Performance, Database Intallation & Configuration * Experience in database administration, including back-ups, maintenance, performance monitoring and troubleshooting, security management, patch management * Experience in implementing high availability setups such as Always on HA, Mirroring, log shipping and Microsoft Clustering. * Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server Stack - SSMS, SSAS, SSIS & SSRS. * Experience working on Linux * Able to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities. * Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server internals and core database functionality (indexes, schemas, triggers, etc.) * Good understanding of database architecture and database design. With a view to carrying out the following: * Installation, Configuration, Maintenance, Performance of DB systems - SQL and Oracle * Monitor & maintaining and tuning databases to optimise availability of server as well as troubleshooting performance. * Creating suitable Database alerts as well as proactively monitor and responding to alerts * Troubleshot performance and connection issues. * Build environments based on standards and best practices that would align to operational and business requirements. * Monitor database maintenance scripts for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statistics. * Producing, maintaining, and ensuring backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly. * Application Implementation, IT application and applications support, technical support, problem solving, technical documentation, communication * Support of application Installation, configuration, maintenance * Availability for out of hours support as part of a support rotation.
