We have a current opportunity for an experienced Planner on a contract basis. The position will be based in Manchester. One of our clients is looking for an experienced Planner to assist them working on a nuclear decommissioning project.

- Hybrid – 3 days in Manchester office
Responsibilities
- As a Planning Engineer, develop and manage project programmes, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure accurate updates and reporting.
- Initially, work with the QS team to cost-load the existing programme of works.
- Once accepted, manage subcontractor plans and integrate updates into the overall programme.
- Develop breakdown structures, quality criteria, and monitoring strategies.
- Validate project assumptions to ensure realistic and achievable plans.
- Interface with project controls to align financials with the project plan.
- Support optimisation of delivery through resource smoothing and rescheduling.
- Identify resource requirements for project delivery.
- Ensure stakeholder requirements are reflected in reporting.
- Provide planning advice and promote best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proficient in Primavera P6.
- Experience in cost and resource-loaded plans.
- Understanding of Earned Value Analysis.
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
- Excellent MS Office proficiency.
- Proactive approach to identifying savings and mitigations.
Desirable
- Familiarity with estimating, scheduling, and risk tools.
- Experience in project controls within regulated environments.
Qualifications
- Essential: GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths.
- Desirable: HNC/HND or degree in a planning-related discipline; APMG Project Planning and Control Practitioner; PMI-SP certification.
