Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Querying languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python)
- Certification in data engineering or related domains
- Demonstrable experience working with multiple, complex data sets
- Demonstrable experience with data classification and standards
- Demonstrable experience implementing ETL processes and delivering data pipelines
- Demonstrable experience working with data in the public sector
- Competent ability to clean, integrate, and scale data sets and pipelines, fixing performance issues and outages
- Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Python, and R, including working with SQL databases
- Competent ability to produce ETL routines to meet requirements
- Competent ability in building, writing, and executing tests to ensure data pipelines
- Data modelling and ETL data pipeline tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory)
- Data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlik)
- Solid understanding of relational databases, database design, query optimization, and performance tuning
- Applied knowledge of modern data engineering tools, technologies, and practices
- Familiarity with data governance principles, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and data security best practices
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and experience with cloud-based data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse)
- Understanding of the working practices of a Police Force
