Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Query languages such as SQL, Java, Hive, R.
  • Data management technologies such as ETL tools and data integration platforms.
  • Data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Qlik.
  • Certification in data architecture or related domains.
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or Data Engineer, with a strong emphasis on data architecture design and implementation.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud‑based data platforms and services (e. g., Azure, AWS), including cloud-based storage and big data technologies.
  • Experience working in the public sector.
  • Experience leading a team delivering data solutions, products or services.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Ability to connect disparate data sets to build useful analytics.
  • Strong planning, coordination and prioritisation of workload for self and team.
  • Production of good‑quality documentation and reports, and presentation of information to stakeholders of varied levels.
  • In‑depth knowledge of modern data practices, platforms, services and the interface with cloud technologies, as well as data modelling techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of data security, data privacy and regulatory compliance standards (e. g., GDPR, CCPA) and their implications for data architecture.
  • Good understanding of the working practices of a Police Force.
