Genealogy charity requires Technical trustee to help drive strategy

We are in an exciting period of change, with a new strategy to take us to the end of the decade and new projects launching soon.
The successful applicant will ideally have either technical or project management experience. Applicants with experience outside of one of these areas but with experience highly pertinent to our operations would also be considered. They will also have the ability, time and flexibility to meet the commitments of the role.
The Board of Trustees meets every two months, mostly via video conferencing. In addition, there are seven board committees which typically meet monthly and we would be looking for the new trustees to be a member of at least one of these

- FreeCEN Steering Committee
- FreeBMD Steering Committee
- Technical Steering Committee
- Finance Committee
- Risk Committee
- Fundraising Steering Group
Trustees are often involved in work outside of the meetings mainly through email exchanges and assisting in their area of expertise.
The role of Trustee is unpaid and Trustees are expected to take part in all meetings that they have committed to. Trustees are appointed for a term of three years. At the end of this term they may be reappointed for a maximum of two more terms. Details of the current trustees is set out on our website.
What will you be doing?
Our strategy focuses on three main elements Quality, Value, and Growth. We’re seeking a capable, motivated individual to join our Board of Trustees to help shape the strategic growth of the organisation and to complement the skills and experience of the existing Trustees. We have recently launched a new transcription platform - FreeComett - which is being rolled out and in development of a new website - FreeBMD2 - and new project - FreePRO.
We are particularly interested in applications from people with expertise in coding, website design or similar experience or those with experience in project management.
Interest and experience in family history would be beneficial, but not essential.
