Fredrikson & Byron has an opportunity for a staff attorney in its Trust & Estates Department, which works to assist individuals, families and family offices to creatively and effectively plan for the distribution of property between generations and to charitable organizations.

Overview: Fredrikson & Byron's Trusts and Estates Department is seeking a Trusts and Estates Administration Staff Attorney to join its well-regarded and growing Trusts and Estates team. Our clients consist of high net-worth individuals and families, along with their closely-held businesses, trusts and foundations. A successful candidate will have the ability and skill set to comfortably manage the administration and management of complex and high value trusts and estates, as well build out a trust administration practice.

This position will require the candidate to:

  • Prepare and supervise others in preparing tax returns and accountings;
  • Work collaboratively with trustees (corporate and familial), outside accountants, financial advisors, and other professionals;
  • Lead the probate and trust administration process;
  • Track and assist in preparing annual notices and payments;
  • Supervise a team with similar tasks.

Preferred candidates will have:

  • 2 to 10 years of estate planning and administration experience
  • Strong organization skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team of other trusts and estates administration specialists
  • Strong academic background
  • J.D. from an ABA-Accredited Law School
  • Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and ability to promptly get admitted in the state of Minnesota or North Dakota.

This role will be based in Minneapolis or Fargo.
