As we expand nationally, we’re investing in building a top-tier finance and accounting function — and we\’re looking for a hands-on Controller to lay the foundation. About the Role: This is a pivotal hire for our growing team. We\’re seeking a mid-career Controller who can take full ownership of the accounting function and lead our transition from an outsourced model to an in-house operation. The ideal candidate has a strong public accounting foundation (Big 4 preferred), deep GAAP knowledge, and experience supporting M&A or multi-entity environments. You’ll help build scalable processes, prepare for future audits, and support leadership with timely and accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities: Manage all accounting operations: general ledger, A/P, A/R, month-end close, and revenue recognition Build audit-ready processes and lead audit preparation efforts Oversee the in-sourcing of accounting functions and streamline financial workflows Improve and evolve accounting systems (currently on QuickBooks; open to new solutions) Handle multi-entity consolidation and intercompany eliminations Support M&A activity including integration of acquired entities or books of business Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and provide ad hoc analysis to leadership Operate as a team of one initially, with potential to build and lead a team in the future Ideal Background: 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience Public accounting foundation (Big 4 strongly preferred) CPA preferred or actively pursuing Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP; ASC 606 experience a plus Experience with multi-entity accounting; exposure to tax and PE/VC reporting helpful M&A and post-acquisition accounting experience a strong plus Resourceful, collaborative, and grounded in a continuous improvement mindset Willingness to be both strategic and hands-on in a fast-paced environment Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Finance and Accounting/Auditing Industries Insurance and Technology, Information and Media Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Frederick Fox by 2x Inferred from the description for this job 401(k) Medical insurance Vision insurance Get notified when a new job is posted.
