As we continue to grow, we are now strengthening our Crew Management team with a Crewing Officer in our Ipswich Head Office on a 12‑month maternity cover. Working on a hybrid basis, you will be responsible for the recruitment, placement, and management of shipboard personnel and their movements. This role ensures that all vessels are staffed with qualified and competent crew members, adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of crew members, including contracts, certifications, and personal details.
- Manage scheduling and rotations of crew in accordance with the budget and operational need.
- Identify, interview, and select candidates for various shipboard positions.
- Ensure all crew members meet regulatory and company‑specific requirements, including medical and training certifications.
- Arrange travel, accommodation, and other logistics for crew members joining or leaving the vessel.
- Serve as a primary point of contact between the crew, manning agents and the company, addressing any concerns or issues that arise.
- Coordinate training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of crew members.
About You
- Previous experience in scheduling or crewing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn crewing software and databases.
- Educated to GCSE standard (Grade C/4) or equivalent in Maths and English.
- Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can demonstrate sound logical thinking.
- Detail‑oriented, proactive, and able to work under pressure.
- Ability to travel as required.
This is a full‑time, temporary role, covering a 12‑month period of maternity leave. You would work Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week on a hybrid basis (3 days in the office, 2 days at home). Fred.
