Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled individual to step into the role of Head of Production for a fixed-term contract of 6 months, with the potential for extension. This role may suit a Senior Producer or Production Manager ready to step up, or a freelance professional seeking a longer-term opportunity.
The successful candidate will oversee the production team on all projects, managing budgeting, scheduling, and logistics, while collaborating closely with our Creative Director to ensure overall output meets high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Budgeting and Financial Management:
• Prepare and monitor production budgets for all projects.
• Forecast and report financial progress as required.
• Assess the financial viability of content ideas during projects.
Scheduling and Project Management:
• Create and maintain project schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
• Assist producers with their projects in a Production Manager (PM) capacity.
• Directly produce and oversee select projects.
Tendering and Client Relations:
• Write tenders and pitch materials for new opportunities.
• Negotiate client budgets, agree on payment milestones, and raise invoices.
• Maintain and nurture client relationships to ensure satisfaction and growth.
Team Leadership:
• Lead the production team in-office, ensuring adequate staffing and holiday scheduling.
• Organise and lead production meetings to optimise workflows and operations.
Compliance and Delivery:
• Ensure all necessary rights are acquired and documented for project delivery.
• Address and escalate issues promptly during projects.
• Collaborate with the Post-Production Facilities Manager and Creative Director to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Health & Safety:
• Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, escalating any concerns as needed.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
• Proven experience meeting deadlines and adapting to changing timelines.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
• Strong initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, even with a high workload.
• Strong time management and organisational skills, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Desired Experience and Competencies:
• Familiarity with advertising, corporate, and museum content is ideal.
• Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end production processes.
• Strong budgeting, scheduling, and negotiation skills.
• Confident communicator with experience coordinating crews during film shoots.
• Exceptional planning and scheduling abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with Clearcast and Silvermouse is a plus.
