The Role
We’re looking for a Financial Controller to provide senior leadership and oversight of our finance function. This is a strategic, part-time role, designed to complement an experienced and capable finance team. You’ll focus on providing high-level oversight, insight and challenge, rather than day-to-day operational finance tasks. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll play a key role in shaping financial strategy, improving performance and ensuring robust financial management across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the Finance Function
- Provide oversight and leadership across all areas of finance
- Ensure accurate, timely and reliable financial reporting
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team
- Provide expert financial advice to the CEO, SLT and Board
- Support the Finance Committee with clear and relevant information
Financial Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements
- Strengthen financial controls and risk management
- Manage year-end processes and external audits
- Maintain relationships with auditors, bankers and advisors
Performance & Insight
- Deliver financial analysis to support decision-making
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
- Provide insight into financial and operational performance
- Support continuous improvement across the organisation
About You
- A qualified accountant, with substantial senior financial management experience, some of which has been gained in a trading organisation with an annual income profile of over £10 million
- Experience of successfully managing a finance function in a complex organisation
- Experience of leading and developing a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team
- Commercially aware, strategic thinker with strong judgement
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly
