We support clients in all parts of the UK civil and defence nuclear industry, as well as a variety of non‑reactor, experimental or small‑scale projects. We provide technical expertise on engineering projects for the design, construction, operation, inspection, maintenance and decommissioning of nuclear facilities; much of our work is in support of the safety case, in the context of UK nuclear regulation and broader safety regulation and good practice.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies to tackle nuclear safety challenges.
- Perform technical tasks such as HAZID, fault schedule development, design basis analysis, probabilistic analysis, safety functional requirements and HAZOP.
- Conduct periodic safety reviews of nuclear facilities.
- Qualification and substantiation of systems against safety requirements.
- Perform internal and external hazards assessments.
- Develop safety case and support for nuclear and non‑nuclear plant.
- Author clear, accurate safety‑related technical documents tailored to their purpose and audience; justify safety arguments.
- Assist in coaching colleagues, supporting their project work and development.
- Rapidly learn new systems, organisations and processes; communicate clearly.
Essential Qualifications
- Demonstrable 3+ years of experience in civil nuclear or defence nuclear, including safety experience.
- A degree, master’s or PhD in a relevant STEM subject.
- Good organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and adapt to different projects and client organisations.
- Appetite to continually learn, improve and stretch yourself.
Desirable Requirements
- Technical oversight, leadership and self‑directed review.
- Experience in commercial aspects and project management.
- Technical consultancy experience.
- Chartered (or working towards) with a professional institution.
