We provide technical support to our clients on engineering projects for the design, construction, operation, maintenance, defueling and decommissioning of their nuclear facilities.
Role Purpose
This role will see you undertaking and managing a range of projects, working with other consultants, and contributing to the delivery of contracts to our customers across a range of clients within the nuclear sector.
Tasks
- Undertake technical tasks such as safety assessment, risk assessment, hazard identification, hazard analysis, safety functional requirements.
- Internal and external hazard assessments.
- Authoring or reviewing/verifying safety‑related documents.
- Engineering substantiation of systems, structures and components against safety requirements.
- Safety case development and support for nuclear plant.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in the nuclear industry.
- Chartered Member of an Engineering Institution (IMechE, IET) or working towards professional registration.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to handle shifting requirements and manage one’s own workload.
- Motivation to continually learn, improve and stretch yourself.
- Willingness to travel and spend time on client sites.
- Experience delivering projects for UK nuclear licensees.
- Familiarity with the UK regulatory regime for nuclear licensed sites.
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Familiarity with nuclear safety principles and regulatory context.
- Experience in the development and management of nuclear safety cases.
- Experience of nuclear safety case sub‑disciplines such as radiological consequence assessment, probabilistic safety assessment, internal hazards assessment, external hazards assessment, fault studies.
- Familiarity and proficiency in process safety tools including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA.
- Experience developing the substantiation of nuclear structures, systems and components.
- Familiarity with ALARP principles and safety justification methodologies.
- Technical consultancy experience.
- Project management experience.
