Frazer-Nash has over 30 years of experience in the nuclear sector, supporting clients to meet strict regulatory requirements across UK civil nuclear operations and defence platforms. We have also supported the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for more than 15 years.
Role Overview
We are recruiting Consultants, Senior Consultants, Management Consultants and Principal Consultants with a breadth of technical knowledge in human factors and a nuclear bias. Candidates will develop Human-Factors strategies for complex projects, act as subject-matter specialists, technical leads or project managers, and deliver work as part of multidisciplinary teams across nuclear and other sectors.
Key Qualifications
Personal
- Relevant degree (e.g. BSc or MSc in Human Factors) or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Relevant professional membership; holding or actively working towards Full / Chartered status
- Significant experience writing and editing high-quality outputs in a consultancy or advisory setting
- Significant experience writing high-quality bids and proposals in a consultancy or advisory setting
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail to manage project scope, risks and costs
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships at senior levels
- Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritise tasks in a consultancy setting with frequent shifting priorities
Technical (Essential)
- Experience of implementing human factors integration activities across safety-critical industries (e.g. Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Offshore)
- Experience of UK nuclear standards and regulations
- Thorough knowledge of risk assessment, safety assurance, safety case and safety management concepts within major hazard industries
- Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative human error and reliability assessments
- Experience in User Experience or Human-Computer Interfaces
- Experience in the civil nuclear sector – ideally nuclear plants, new builds, defueling and fuel route
- Experience in the Defence sector
- Support to safety case development within the nuclear context
Desirable
- Demonstrable history of engagement with regulators (e.g. ONR, EA/NRW/SEPA, DESNZ, Defra, DNSR)
- Acting as a technical leader and subject-matter specialist within the group and wider business, specialising within the nuclear domain
- Managing business development activities with existing clients and securing new clients
- Delivery of complex projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and to the desired quality standard
- Undertaking technical verification reviews and approval of deliverables, ensuring quality and technical accuracy
- Coaching and mentoring junior staff and staying current on regulation changes to ensure compliance and best practice
