The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

We are looking for people with a strong theoretical underpinning of process design and fluid flow, alongside consultancy experience and good communication skills, with the ability to:

Responsibilities

  • Lead the process engineering design of potentially complex fluid systems, including at pilot plant or test rig scale.
  • Support the safety assessment of the design, particularly where this involves novel clean energy systems.
  • Work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams developing safe designs for new facilities or modifications for existing plant.
  • Meet with clients to understand their needs, and lead the production of proposals for work to address these.
  • Mentor, develop and encourage less experienced colleagues in planning and delivering process engineering work, and participating within the process engineering profession.

Working as a Senior Process Engineering Consultant

  • Winning work: Developing new business by responding to enquiries and writing bids, and representing Frazer-Nash at client meetings, conferences and seminars.
  • Taking the lead: Managing all aspects of technical projects, including client communication, project delivery and other staff involved in the project.
  • Developing capability: Strengthening and developing our capabilities, aligning these to what our clients need now and will need in future.
  • Variety: Working on a wide range of projects, from short tasks lasting a few weeks to many years of sustained support, developing your skills through a diverse range of interesting and engaging work.
  • Teamwork: Working as part of a supportive group, you\’ll be proactive in developing your skills, reaching out to colleagues for advice and support when needed, and freely sharing your experience with colleagues to support their development.
  • Professional recognition: We value chartered engineer and fellow status, and we mentor and support our employees to achieve this.

Qualifications

  • You’ll be an experienced Process Engineer, either Chartered with the IChemE or with equivalent experience.
  • You’ll have experience of leading the design of process systems across a range of industries from concept through to detailed design, including the development of process simulations and P&IDs. You’ll have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team, and managing the complex interfaces associated with this.
  • You have a good understanding of the underpinning fluid flow and heat transfer behaviour that drives the selection and sizing of components, and the ability to apply this to unusual fluids and operating conditions.
  • You have experience of presenting designs at HAZOPs and design reviews, and have a good understanding of the Functional Safety Lifecycle, and how HAZOP and LOPA contribute to this.
  • You have some experience of working with stakeholders to plan work and agree budgets, and some experience of managing packages of work to time, quality and cost.
  • You will be able to use your communication skills to engage effectively with project stakeholders internally and externally, both verbally and through crisp and focused writing.
  • Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre‑employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
