With the announcement of the new AUKUS pact there has never been a better time for engineering professionals, especially those with nuclear safety expertise, to be in Australia. Australia needs to build a significant sovereign workforce in order to deliver this major uplift in Defence capability. Additionally, we have a wide range of other interesting and innovative safety and assurance projects to help broaden and strengthen your skills. Current projects include:
- Supporting naval surface ship and submarine programs in Adelaide and Perth
- Supporting the safety case development of Australia's first Commonwealth radioactive waste disposal facility
- Leading thinking on the assurance of autonomy
- Developing an understanding of how machine learning can support safety engineering
- Unlocking existing transport regulatory frameworks to enable autonomous operations
- Digitising system engineering support for increased productivity
- Supporting the assurance of Australia's commercial space related activities
- Delivering the safety and assurance programs for major rail infrastructure projects in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne
- Improving the efficiency of power generation and transmission through innovative modelling
To be successful in the role, you will ideally have:
- Bachelor of Engineering/Science Degree (or equivalent depth of training)
- Have (or be eligible for) UK or Australian security clearance (essential)
- Safety and assurance knowledge and experience (Highly regarded)
- Previous Defence maritime experience (Highly regarded)
- Systems engineering knowledge and experience (desirable)
- Chartered Engineer Status (desirable)
- Excellent client management/stakeholder engagement skills (or the aptitude to learn)
