Overview
Frazer‑Nash Consultancy seeks an Engineer/Consultant for structural assessment of extreme dynamic loads (impact, blast, fire, seismic) across key sectors such as Energy, Defence, Space, Nuclear and Transport. Join the UK Built Environment team to analyse hazards, develop technical assessments and bespoke solutions.
Areas You Will Work
- Nuclear energy (new build, operational fleet, decommissioning)
- Nuclear defence (infrastructure design, substantiation, assurance)
- Renewables (onshore solar, offshore wind)
- Process industries (chemical, hydrogen production)
- Transport (rail, marine)
Your Responsibilities
- Concept development and feasibility analysis.
- Civil and structural design and verification code assessments (Eurocode, ASCE, AISC).
- Hazard assessment – seismic, blast, fire performance modelling and validation studies.
- Structural analysis and substantiation for extreme dynamic loads:
- Explosive / blast / impact withstand assessment.
- Fire and explosion risk assessment.
- Fire load response analysis.
- Vessel failure analysis.
- Seismic analysis and qualification.

Essential Qualifications
- A master’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent technical writing and engineering problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong computer literacy with enthusiasm for new applications.
Desirable Experience
- Proficiency with industry software: Abaqus, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, Autodesk Robot, Revit, AutoCAD.
- Programming knowledge.
- Interest in safety‑critical infrastructure projects.
- Client‑facing consultancy experience.
- Collaboration across disciplines.
- Demonstrable experience in code‑based assessment, structural tools, seismic or dynamic analysis, impact/ blast / fire modelling, hazard analysis and safety case documentation.
