Base pay range

Title: Junior Supply Chain Consultant

Salary range : ÂŁ35,000 to ÂŁ45,000 per annum

Location: Bristol, Plymouth, Burton – other FNC office locations considered

Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

At Frazer-Nash, we’ve delivered high-impact supply chain and procurement projects across diverse sectors, including public health, defence, innovation, and space. As a Junior Consultant, you’ll have the opportunity to support meaningful work such as:

  • Strategic Innovation Delivery for Thames Freeport – Managing the design and delivery of procurement strategies to support Thames Freeport establish a “21st Century City” – the best place to live and work in the United Kingdom, bringing together highly productive industrial clusters, including a ÂŁ3.3M AI Pathfinder Centre, 5G innovation partners, health service and wider portfolio of innovation and investment.
  • MOD Procurement Portfolio – Supporting time-critical MOD procurement activity for complex capability acquisition.
  • NHS Test & Trace Supply Chain Transformation – Helping to rapidly design and implement procurement and supply chain operating models for the UK’s national COVID-19 response. This included framework alignment, supply chain assurance, and contract governance support.
  • Defence R&D Supply Chain Delivery – Supporting Dstl in building and managing a dynamic supplier ecosystem for early-stage research. Projects focused on supply chain access to SMEs, non-traditional suppliers, and research institutions in high-security environments.
  • Space Sector Supplier Ecosystem Development – Developing scalable, secure, and innovation-led procurement solutions for clients in the space sector, with a focus on emerging supply chain capability and pre-market engagement for launch, propulsion, and satellite-related services.
  • Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) Supply Chain Maturity Review – Delivering maturity assessments, supplier risk frameworks, and future operating models for NWS to improve resilience and long-term contract performance across their national supply chain.
  • Global Supplier Diversification for Solar Turbines – Conducting international supplier research and technical due diligence to support the identification of alternative sources for critical engineered parts in the energy sector, enabling enhanced sourcing resilience and dual-supply capability.

The Role

We are looking to recruit two Supply Chain Consultants to join our expanding team. One of which is suited to an early-career professional with up to 1–2 years’ experience in a supply chain or procurement environment who is interested in developing their skills in a consultancy setting. The second position is aimed at a more experienced individual with 3+ years of relevant experience, an ability to manage supply chain projects, and the confidence to organise their own tasks with clients.

Both positions offer access to structured development, practical learning, mentoring, and clear progression pathways within an innovative and supportive consultancy environment.

As a Junior Supply Chain Consultant, you’ll become part of a skilled and collaborative team delivering a wide range of strategic procurement and supply chain projects. These may include developing sourcing strategies, improving supply chain resilience, navigating procurement regulations, and supporting innovation across diverse sectors.

You’ll work closely with experienced consultants and client stakeholders, gaining practical experience across the full procurement lifecycle. Regardless of your level of experience, this role allows you to enhance your skills while navigating a lively, client-centered landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of supply chain and procurement consultancy projects
  • Conduct market research, data analysis and supplier mapping exercises
  • Draft tender documents, evaluation models and contract templates
  • Assist in running procurement processes including supplier engagement, assessment and moderation
  • Support development of commercial strategies, sourcing plans and supply chain improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to internal initiatives that drive innovation and thought leadership in supply chain
  • Inputting into bids to support securing new and future work

Core Technical Skills

  • Understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, including demand planning, sourcing, managing supply chain projects, and supplier management
  • Working knowledge of procurement procedures (RFQ, ITT, contract award, due diligence) in both public and private sectors
  • Awareness of procurement regulations, such as PCR 2015 or Procurement Act 2023
  • Basic commercial and contract awareness (e.g. understanding terms, SLAs, KPIs)
  • Ability to use and learn procurement and supply chain tools (e.g. Excel, ERP/MRP systems, e-sourcing platforms)
  • Analytical skills for interpreting data, assessing supplier proposals, and identifying value for money opportunities

Consulting & Delivery Skills

  • Ability to manage workstreams or small projects, including tracking actions, updating clients, and meeting deadlines
  • Clear and professional written communication, including drafting reports, policies, and formal documents
  • Presentation and stakeholder engagement skills, especially in virtual or client-facing environments
  • Problem-solving mindset – able to suggest practical solutions to complex issues

Qualification that would be beneficial

  • CIPS qualification (or working towards) and desire to achieve full MCIPS
  • At least 2+ years of relevant experience in a procurement or supply chain environment
  • Experience working in a consulting or project-based environment
  • Sector knowledge (e.g. defence, infrastructure, public sector) is a plus
  • Ability to engage with suppliers and stakeholders independently

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
