Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

Frazer-Nash provides Aviation Certification and safety assurance services to the UK Military Defence sector, and we are looking for an experienced aircraft structures senior consultant to support in the development and delivery of this service. In addition, the appointed candidate will provide engineering expertise to our large team of multi-discipline aerospace engineers across a variety of fixed-wing, rotary-wing, both crewed and uncrewed air systems. Our team aims to support our clients in providing the UK with airworthy, safe, sustainable military capability through the application of a systems engineering and engineering technical services across the MoD in the aerospace domain, and into other domains. Our clients look for support in initial platform type certification and type airworthiness, continuing airworthiness and technical delivery of projects. This would suit an engineer with previous experience working within National Armaments - Materiel / Defence Equipment & Support Delivery Teams or Front-Line delivery of air systems or commodity equipment. Civil experience in certification will also be welcomed. The role represents an opportunity to join an expanding team to both support and manage technical delivery on projects across the aerospace spectrum within Defence. You will develop a portfolio of project deliveries, hone your consultancy skills and help develop more junior engineers and graduates. As part of Frazer-Nash, you may also have opportunities to work outside defence aerospace or gain civil experience to widen your skillset further.
Responsibilities:
- We are seeking an experienced Structures Airworthiness Engineer to support the delivery and assurance of airworthiness activities in accordance with the UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Framework.
- This role is critical in ensuring that aircraft structural integrity, certification, and continued airworthiness activities meet regulatory, safety, and operational requirements within a military aviation environment.
- You will be expected to have sound engineering experience across multiple disciplines.
- Have specialist engineering experience in aircraft structures and certification.
- Lead on technical delivery within programmes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Can provide expert technical advice on structural airworthiness and integrity.
- Can conduct and support airworthiness audits and assurance activities.
- Has experience in participating in Integrity Working Groups (IWGs).
- Can assess fatigue, damage tolerance, and structural lifting strategies.
- Has liaised with design organisations, maintenance teams, and regulatory authorities.
- Has supported incident investigations relating to structural issues.
- Attend and actively contribute to Structural Integrity Working Groups (SIWGs) and other governance forums.
- Is qualified to Chartered Engineer level or working towards it.
- Has demonstrable technical experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment, in the aerospace industry, including: Certification requirements and compliance; Requirements management; Safety and assurance; Test and acceptance.
- Shows a strong customer-focused attitude.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the different air safety aspects of an air systems life cycle.
Desirable Requirements:
- Holds a first degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience working within a Delivery Team or Defence Equipment & Support Frontline Engineering.
- Experience on a Squadron or similar.
- Has previous/current experience as an engineering consultant.
