Role Overview
We support clients in all parts of the UK civil and defence nuclear industry, as well as a variety of non‑reactor, and experimental or small‑scale projects. We provide technical expertise to our clients on engineering projects for the design, construction, operation, inspection, maintenance and decommissioning of nuclear facilities; much of our work is in support of the safety case, in the context of UK nuclear regulation and broader UK safety regulation and good practice.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies to tackle nuclear safety challenges.
- Perform technical tasks such as HAZID, fault schedule development, design basis analysis, probabilistic analysis, safety functional requirements, HAZOP.
- Conduct periodic review of safety of nuclear facilities.
- Qualification and substantiation of systems against safety requirements.
- Internal and external hazards assessments.
- Safety case development and support for nuclear and non‑nuclear plant.
- Authoring clear and accurate safety‑related technical documents, tailored to the purpose and audience; often assessing and summarising information and assembling arguments to justify safety.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable 3+ years of experience in civil nuclear or defence nuclear, including some safety experience.
- A degree, MSc or PhD in a relevant STEM subject.
- Good organisational skills.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and adapt to the demands of different projects and client organisations.
- An appetite to continually learn, improve and stretch yourself.
Desirable Requirements
- Technical oversight, leadership, and self‑directed review.
- Experience in commercial aspects and project management.
- Technical consultancy experience.
- Chartered (or working towards) with a professional institution.
Security Vetting
