Role Description: As a Naval Architect you will play a pivotal role in the growth and success of our company and the Marine Technology Group. You will deliver technical consultancy projects focused on dockyard support activities and work with Business Managers to generate new business opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering, design, guidance and support to a diverse range of clients in defence and commercial marine sectors.
- Manage and deliver technical projects.
- Leverage your network to identify and engage potential clients in the commercial marine sector.
- Support Business Managers in developing and implementing strategies to expand the client base and increase project opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with naval architects to align business development efforts with their expertise.
- Lead the entire sales cycle from prospecting and qualification to proposal development and contract negotiation.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions and competitors’ activities to identify new opportunities.
- Attend industry events, conferences and trade shows to represent the company and build relationships.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop promotional materials and initiatives.
- Provide regular reports and updates on business development activities, market insights, and client feedback.
What You Will Achieve in the Next 12 Months:
- Deliver solutions to technical challenges faced by customers in defence and commercial markets.
- Develop and own relationships with key staff in the commercial marine industry.
- Support the Group Leader to grow the Marine Technology team with new lines of technical work.
- Define needs for our support using commercial experience and technical expertise.
- Mentor younger engineers to grow their careers.
- Prepare commercial solutions and proposals to deliver technical support.
- Produce high‑quality work to meet customer needs.
- Provide strategic input to shape the direction of the business.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience supporting dockyard projects (ship refit or dockyard infrastructure).
- Network of industry contacts to generate business opportunities in naval architecture and marine engineering.
- Solid understanding of naval architecture principles, ship design and marine engineering.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Self‑motivated and goal‑oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
