Location: Mostly remote, or any UK office

Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid (office, client sites, home)

Working within the Strategic Pursuits team, the Bid Writer develops FNC bids and proposals, expressions of interest, pre‑qualification questionnaires, invitations to tender, and other tender documents. The role also collaborates with partner organisations and consortia members to create content for joint bids and proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of storyboards and response plans
  • Contribute to the development of compliant and compelling proposals
  • Ensure proposals are accurate, complete and represent the company’s experience, capability and value propositions
  • Engage with and solicit information and written content from technical subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Transform complex technical content sourced from technical experts into a clear and concise narrative, incorporating appropriate win themes and sales messaging
  • Support the Bid and/or Capture Manager in developing win themes that reflect our value proposition
  • Develop a good understanding of the awarding authority’s vision, strategy, and plans to identify business generation opportunities
  • Support the Bid Manager, when required, in the execution of proposal governance reviews
  • Play a leading role in keeping the bid content library current and fit for purpose
  • Treat individual and collective continuous improvement as a business‑as‑usual activity
  • Contribute proactively to increasing win rates
  • Act as an ambassador for Strategic Pursuits at all times, engaging professionally and identifying opportunities for delivering additional value

Essential Qualities

  • Understand bid writing best practice principles
  • Have demonstrable experience in bid writing
  • Appreciate the rules and regulations governing the UK public sector tendering process
  • Possess clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and present a professional approach as an ambassador for Strategic Pursuits
  • Work proficiently across Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Copilot, as well as productivity tools such as Copilot
  • Be highly motivated and adaptable in approach
  • Handle several tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a thorough, methodical approach

Desirable Qualities

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in a writing‑intensive subject
  • Have experience working in the Defence, Transport, or Technology industries
  • Possess strong research skills and an inquisitive mindset
  • Be adaptable, persistent, and resilient
