Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer‑Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

This position is aligned with our Managing Consultant and Principal Consultant internal job roles. We are looking for experienced consultants with a background in energy system modelling and energy market advisory services to join our diverse and growing Modelling Team. You will work in a team of high performing data scientists and subject matter experts to build bespoke models and analysis tools to develop insights and advice for our clients’ most important challenges.
Modelling Teams Support Clients With The Following Services:
- Energy system transition modelling
- Strategy and policy development
- Scenario planning and strategy / policy simulations
- Complex business case analysis
- Cost, risk and benefits modelling
- Decision optimisation under uncertainty
- Developing AI decision‑making systems
- Decision science and decision support tools
The team is highly collaborative, often working closely with experts in economics, technology, engineering and behavioural psychology. This role is based in our Bristol modelling team, helping to grow our energy sector modelling capability while working with our established energy modelling team in Manchester.
Recent Projects Include:
- Helping NESO to improve the Least Worst Regret decision making process for the Centralised Strategic Network Plan (CSNP).
- Supporting Citizens Advice by building a probabilistic modelling tool for understanding the future of domestic gas bills during different energy transition scenarios.
- Building a BESS dispatch prediction tool to understand how future BESS will likely play in the Balancing Mechanism and Frequency Response markets.
- Developing a resilience modelling capability to understand the impact to electricity and gas consumers during shock events.
- Working with UK government, system operator and DNOs to build decision support tools for future investments to build system resilience.
- Using electricity system simulation tools, such as PyPSA, to develop Fractal Flow, technology to improve visibility between operators at different scales of the GB electricity system.
- Building AI tools to automatically extract data and quantitative insights from local area energy plans, regional energy strategies and national strategies.
- Using uncertain data to build statistical forecasting tools for future demand and system change.
You will also have the chance to get involved in our other consultancy market sectors including major infrastructure, transport, civil nuclear and defence.
