This is a high-impact leadership role, operating with significant autonomy and visibility. Reporting into a HR Director, you will set the strategic direction for workforce management and people insight, shaping how workforce decisions are made across a complex, multi-unit environment. You will lead a team responsible for translating workforce data into actionable insight, partnering closely with Finance and senior business leaders to solve workforce and skills challenges, and ensuring that workforce strategy is aligned to medium-term planning and financial objectives. Critically, this role will play a key part in redefining workforce strategy for the future – including understanding the impact of AI, evolving workforce models, and building a scalable, sustainable approach to workforce planning across the organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Set and evolve workforce strategy across the business

- Develop and embed robust forecasting and Medium-Term Planning approaches, ensuring alignment with financial plans and business strategy.
- Translate complex workforce and organisational data into clear, actionable insights, enabling informed decision-making at senior level.
- Partner closely with Finance, HR and business leadership to proactively solve workforce and skills challenges.
- Lead workforce transformation activity, including evolving forecasting capability, enhancing tools and introducing more advanced, AI-enabled approaches.
- Build and lead a high‑performing insights and workforce team, driving capability, engagement and progression.
- Create a scalable workforce model, with the potential to extend across broader areas of the business over time.
The Impact
Success in this role will mean delivering a clear, data‑driven view of the future workforce, enabling the company to answer critical strategic questions:
- What skills and capabilities are required to deliver future business priorities?
- How should talent be sourced and deployed across the organisation?
- Where should roles be located to maximise efficiency and impact?
You will also play a key role in shaping career pathways, reskilling strategies and talent development, ensuring workforce strategy supports long‑term, sustainable careers and organisational growth.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a commercially minded, strategic leader who combines workforce planning expertise with strong analytical capability and stakeholder influence:
- Deep experience in strategic workforce planning, forecasting and organisational modelling within large, complex environments
- Strong data analytics capability, with the ability to translate data into meaningful, actionable insight
- Proven ability to work in partnership with senior stakeholders, influencing across business and finance
- Experience operating in transformation environments, ideally evolving workforce management capability or systems
- Comfortable working in environments that are both strategic and hands‑on, including building models and working with data where needed
- An understanding of the impact of AI and emerging technologies on workforce strategy is highly advantageous
- A consulting mindset, with the ability to challenge, shape thinking and drive outcomes
