This role is perfect for someone who lives and breathes Employee Relations, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and wants to be the go‑to expert supporting a Head of HR who comes from a talent background and openly admits ER isn’t their strong suit. You’ll be the ER brain of the operation - confident, knowledgeable, and ready to handle a high volume of low‑level cases with ease.
The role
You’ll be the trusted ER partner to the Head of HR, owning the ER landscape end‑to‑end. With the business scaling so quickly, most cases are low‑level but high‑volume - think lateness, sickness, reasonable adjustment requests, and general policy guidance. You’ll bring structure, clarity, and confidence to a team that needs a true ER specialist to keep things running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead ER case management - Own a high‑volume caseload including sickness, lateness, conduct concerns, and informal performance issues.
- Advise on employment law - Provide expert, up‑to‑date guidance to the Head of HR and managers across the business.
- Support reasonable adjustments - Manage requests, assessments, and documentation with accuracy and empathy.
- Coach managers - Build capability across the leadership population, helping them handle ER matters confidently.
- Maintain ER documentation - Ensure all notes, letters, and outcomes are compliant and audit‑ready.
- Spot trends - Identify recurring issues and recommend proactive solutions or policy updates.
- Partner with HR - Work closely with the Head of HR to shape ER processes as the business scales.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong ER expertise - You’re the person people call when they need the right answer fast.
- High‑volume case experience - You’ve handled a busy ER inbox and kept everything moving.
- Up‑to‑date employment law knowledge - You stay current and can translate legal requirements into practical advice.
- Confidence and autonomy - You’re comfortable being the ER expert in the room.
- Clear communication - You can explain complex ER matters simply and calmly.
- Experience in fast‑growth environments - You know how to operate when things move quickly and processes evolve constantly.
- A proactive mindset - You don’t wait for problems; you anticipate them.
