About The Role
This isn’t a passive or admin-heavy role. You’ll work closely with the MD and lead the planning process from end to end — from shaping strategy to delivering advice that holds up under scrutiny. Around 70% of your work will be new cases, with 30% focused on long-standing client relationships.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring the entire advice file is complete, compliant, and suitable — nothing missing, nothing unsuitable, and nothing left to chance. You’ll own the technical accuracy and integrity of every case.
The Ideal Candidate
You’re experienced (3+ years), qualified (Level 4), and thrive in a structured, process-led environment. You value the freedom to work remotely and autonomously — and you take real pride in the quality of your work.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
Frazer James is a values-driven, multi-award-winning independent financial planning firm based in Bristol. Since 2019, we’ve grown organically through word of mouth and strong client relationships — and now manage over £90 million on behalf of around 110 families.
We deliver highly personalised financial planning that helps clients plan with purpose, invest with clarity, and live with intention. Our team includes Certified Financial Planners, Chartered Paraplanners, and experienced support staff who genuinely care about the quality of their work and the impact it has.
You’ll be joining a business that does things properly, values your voice, and trusts you to do great work from wherever you are.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll lead the paraplanning process from start to finish — helping shape advice that’s technically sound, client-centred, and built to last. Supported by a full-time administrator, you’ll be the key planning partner for new and complex clients.
- Plan Creation – Build detailed net worth, income/expenditure reports, and cash flow models.
- Strategic Planning – Identify planning opportunities, perform calculations, and develop client-centric recommendations.
- Research & Due Diligence – Analyse products, investments, and providers to determine suitable solutions.
- Advice Reports – Write compliant, technically accurate, and client-appropriate recommendation reports that reflect the agreed strategy.
- File Ownership – Take full responsibility for the completeness and compliance of each file — ensuring all documentation, evidence, and recommendations meet internal and regulatory standards.
- Implementation Oversight – Coordinate with the admin team to deliver advice accurately and on time.
- Annual Reviews – Prepare updated plans, agendas, and meeting notes for complex existing clients.
- Client Contact – Communicate via email, secure messaging, instant chat, and phone. Attending client meetings is generally not required.
Note: This isn’t a stepping-stone into advice. We’re looking for someone who sees paraplanning as a long-term professional career with room for growth and development.
